Top 5 tips in improving your Mental Health in 2022.
Below are 5 simple ways to look after your mental health today and every day.
Keep in Contact
Sometimes if you’re feeling blue, it is hard to keep up to date with friends & loved ones. One thing I like to do is each day is try reach out to someone you haven’t spoken in a while. Maybe an instagram DM, text or try organise a catch up.
You might not feel 100% in catching up but trust me, once you’re out and about, you’ll feel a tad better.
Talk & Walk
Had a rough day or year (thanks 2020)? Remember to talk to someone. Whether that is someone you live with, a loved one chat it through. If you don’t have anyone, we recommend Samaritans.
We can tend to over think things, worry more and be stuck in our head. You might feel silly but once you voice things, help and strategies can follow.
Be kind to your mind
We are our worst critique. My inner voice is called Gertrude (sorry if that’s your name, mine’s Denise so that’s not any better). Gertrude can be loud, persistent and damn right annoying. Remember that you can help your self talk by addressing it.
“Hey Gertrude, I have strengths and qualities that are powerful and contagious, so quiet down”
If that’s hard (we understand), we recommend Clementine - you can try it for free and it’s all about helping your sleep, confidence & anxiety.
Do something for yourself.
Now this one seems easy but if you’re anything like me, it’s hard to let go. Do something that inspires you or gives you a small bit of pleasure. Go for a caramel latte (I’ll take one thanks!) or plan a trip if you can… my partner knows all too well about that.
It doesn’t have to be big but being a little selfish can help boost your mindset and release endorphins.
Take a break.
WFH? Stuck in the office? Stuck in your room? Get out!! Seriously. Step away from this screen (thanks for reading) and break up the day to day. A few mins a day can de-stress, compress and clear up any negativity you’re feeling.
